The Jain Social Group (Bombay) Foundation renders social services to Mumbai-area Jains in the fields of Higher Education, Self-employment, and Medical relief.
Let by Chief Executive Dhirajlal F. Shah and supported by an experienced team of trustees, the group carefully scrutinizes applications to its schemes to help its less privileged brethren overcome hardship and reach new heights in a self-sustainable fashion.
The Jain Social Group (Bombay) Foundation offers no-interest loans and scholarships for furthering one's education; no-interest loans for self-employment; and non-refundable relief for medical assistance.
The group's main schemes are:
- Shri Mahavir Medical Relief Scheme
- Chandra-Tara Sadbhav Self-Employment Scheme
- Sunderlal Maneckchand Sheth Promotion of Higher Education Scheme
Registered in 1989, the foundation has made substantial contributions to the uplifting of Mumbai's Jain community.
Funding given as of 30.9.2009 is as follows:
Self-Employment - 935 families - Rs. 23,222,000
Higher Education - 216 students - Rs. 10,545,000
Medical Relief - 399 patients - Rs. 1,660,000
Scholarships - Rs. 2,126,000
